Mark was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. He retired in 2011 after 36 years as an ironworker in California, Nevada, and Illinois. In 2005, the Lord made an extreme 180 in his life, and Mark came to see that the gospel changes everything. He and his wife, Fran, of 29 years joined a Bible-based church. In 2015, Mark and Fran were invited to go on a mission trip with Pastor Karl. That mission was to plant a church in downtown Chicago. Almost 10 years later, Mark has faithfully served at 180 Chicago Church, playing guitar on the worship team. Recently, Mark became an Elder and is involved in mentoring young men at the Downtown Campus.
Since retiring, Mark works part-time in a hospital as a Patient Companion, helping ensure the safety, emotional well-being, and daily care of patients who need extra support and observation. Mark loves people and sees this job as a ministry. He feels incredibly blessed that God has placed him in a position to share hope and encouragement with those he serves. He is also involved in a prison ministry at 26th and California, where he loves to share the love and hope of Jesus with inmates. The inmates enjoy singing the worship songs he leads and often request prayer for themselves and their families.
Mark loves getting together with his daughter Michelle to play guitar while she sings various songs. She has an incredible voice, and they especially love singing and recording worship music together. Mark also loves the water. From a young age through college, he swam competitively, and to this day he swims regularly.
